Architectural panels for commercial and residential design need to combine eye-catching smart appearance, distinctive styling and rugged durability.
SNAP-LINE 45® combines these qualities to make a truly iconic statement on any building. That’s why it’s one of Australia’s most popular steel roofing and wall cladding options.
SNAP-LINE 45® — the name says it all. The sharply defined 45mm high ribs instantly give these panels a special character.
SNAP-LINE 45® denotes strength alloyed with a bold character. This is a profile that will take anything the Australian climate can throw at it and it’s not shy about either its strength or its beauty.
The high 45mm rib and wide pans ensure that SNAP-LINE 45® lives up to some pretty demanding weathertightness requirements.
SNAP-LINE 45® performs particularly well in freak heavy downpour events with its high water carrying capacity removing water swiftly and safely from your roof and walls.
SNAP-LINE 45® APPLICATIONS
SNAP-LINE 45® is ideally suited for roof, wall cladding or gable applications. You can align the prominent ribs horizontally, vertically or diagonally to create powerful intersecting angle and plane contrasts with roof pitches.
The strong linear profile of SNAP-LINE 45® also lends itself well to creating aesthetic contrasts with alternative building materials such as stone, timber, and glass.
The structural, self-supporting characteristics of SNAP-LINE® open up an enormous range of architectural design possibilities.
With a minimum pitch requirement of 1° and maximum span possibilities of up to 900mm for roofing and 1800mm for wall applications you’re no longer necessarily bound by the need for a solid backing substrate*.
A wide range of material types and colours further enhances the creative design potential of SNAP-LINE 45®. Colorbond, Zincalume, zinc, copper, aluminium, and Corten options open up a world of exciting options.
Add in the expansive Colorbond colour range and you’ll quickly see how SNAP-LINE 45® can make all the difference in the world to your next project.
Standard cover widths include:
Custom cover widths are also available ranging from 305mm up to 610mm. Standard sheet lengths are available from 0.3 metres up to 15 metres.
Sheet thicknesses range from 0.55mm to 0.7mm. Independent engineering testing and certification ensures that SNAP-LINE 45® meets or exceeds the required standards: AS1562.1-1992.
SNAP-LINE 45® COLOURS
The natural colours of copper, Zincalume, and the Corten rusted look work well in a wide range of Australian environments.
But Colorbond gives you even more options if you want your building to be even more adventurous and stand out or you need to blend in with the environment.
Colorbond offers a further 22 colours designed to match the rich earthy and marine colours of the Australian environment. With Ultra, Metallic and Matt options also available.
If you’re renovating an older house you might want to take a look at the Classic colour range; it’s perfect for blending in with older style housing and colour ranges.
The contemporary range offers a youthful palette that matches the rich exuberance of modern Australia. It’s perfect for residential and commercial projects.
When you’re deciding how to use SNAP-LINE 45® and the sort of materials and colours you want to work with think about the following:
- Proximity to coastal environments or other corrosive elements
- Existing colour range on the property - garages, walls, fences, interior
- Environmental impacts such as visibility, glare, and heritage values
SNAP-LINE 45® INSTALLATION
SNAP-LINE 45®'s superior strength allows for relatively large unsupported spans under certain conditions. This removes the need for plywood or other substrates.
*However, if you are using softer metals such as zinc or copper a continuous substrate such as plywood is necessary. In this case you should use 15mm plywood for wall cladding and 18mm for roofing.
SNAP-LINE 45® is incredibly easy and fast to install providing real cost savings. Install panels into the prevailing wind.
Make sure you use the correct fasteners for each application and don’t forget to rectify any potential material compatibility issues.
Accurate alignment of sheets and clips is essential to safeguard against any possible tension issues especially under the stress of thermal contraction and expansion.
Use 10 gauge countersunk screws to fix the sheets to the battens or substrate through concealed clips at 900mm centres (maximum).
The larger rib of the adjoining sheet simply snaps into position forming an exceptionally watertight seal.
We also offer the convenient option of mobile roll forming onsite as well as custom lengths to minimize wastage and increase installation efficiency.
SNAP-LINE 45® MAINTENANCE
SNAP-LINE 45® is a superior low-maintenance cladding product. The clean lines of SNAP-LINE 45® promote a natural self-cleaning action with heavy rain washing away most dirt and debris.
The concealed fixing screws provide additional weathering protection in a traditionally weak area of older cladding types. SNAP-LINE 45® will require minimal maintenance over its lifetime.
However, even the highest performing steel cladding will benefit from some maintenance to optimise its lifespan.
Removing leaf matter, dirt and other organic material build-up is always a good idea. You should do this annually at least once or even twice a year. If the building is surrounded by trees you may need to repeat this operation even more frequently.
Removing organic matter is important because it can block guttering and cause water to back up and potentially penetrate seams and thence into roof or wall cavities.
It’s also important to remove dirt and organic material because these substances can significantly increase the rate of corrosion. Organic matter may also contain organisms that can potentially damage the paint finish.
By choosing SNAP-LINE 45® you’ve minimised your installation costs and hassles as well as your maintenance challenges.
